Increased Fire Protection For Rental Property

Smoke Alarm

From 1st October 2015 The Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarm (England) Regulations 2015 place increased responsibilities on Landlords to ensure that working smoke alarms are installed in all rented properties.

Landlords must:

  • Have at least one smoke alarm installed on every storey of their rental property
  • Have a carbon monoxide alarm in any room with a solid fuel appliance
  • Ensure all alarms are working on the first day of a new tenancy

A pair of 10 year sealed-for-life smoke alarms cost only around £25.00 and give landlords a low cost, tamper-proof and easily installed solution to the new regulations’ requirements and protecting their tenants from the potentially fatal consequences of a fire within their home.
